Megan McGeorge recently launched an online store “Nothing Special” that is selling silk screened 100% natural cotton canvas bags. They are perfect for toting books, groceries, and records. But in all honesty, they are pretty special bags. On her first solo roadtrip to New Orleans, Megan met up with longtime friend Jose Guaderama, a teacher in Teach for America. Megan quotes, “As we set up his new room I was shocked by the complete lack of books for his kids to read, as well as by the fact that he had to provide the paper, pens, and pencils for his children to use. That’s when I decided that I wanted to do something that could benefit him and his students in some way.”
More than a typical fundraiser, she created an art object with intention and a standard of sustainablity. 15% of profits will benefit John Dibert Charter School of New Orleans. John Dibert’s goal is “to prepare all students to attend a college-preparatory high school, graduate from a selective college and contribute positively to their community and environment.”
For $25 you can be stylish, sustainable and sympathetic. Order your tote bag today.
