New Orleans Open Studios is happening again on Saturday, November 12th, 2011. Focused on artists with studios in the Marigny, Bywater, St. Roch, St. Claude, and the Lower Ninth Ward, Open Studios is an inclusive event where artists open their studio for the afternoon and downtown New Orleans becomes a fluid cultural landscape.
The goal of the event is to allow artists in downtown neighborhoods to show and sell work directly to patrons; to benefit from the international focus that New Orleans will be receiving during Prospect 2; and to further establish downtown New Orleans neighborhoods as arts and culture destinations.
Last year, Open Studios was a great success, drawing nearly 300 people over the course of the weekend and garnering press on NOLA Defender, GoNOLA.com, and in the Times-Picayune. Now in its second year after reincarnation, Open Studios is expected to be bigger and more successful than last year.
