Musa Alves is our favorite DJ at The Saint, but I recently learned she’s multifaceted creative. Her “Boys” series of photography is hip, modern, and pretty fucking awesome. Read more in her artist statement below:

When photographing people, it is not about the pose, the beauty, the shock, or the attitude.

It is a documentation of the experience shared between the people behind and in front of the camera. When shooting ‘boys,’ I shared deep intimacies that were spontaneously captured ‘in the moment.’ The intimacy may have lasted years, months or for the duration of the shoot. Regardless, the moment was, and now is the meaning.

My main focus on men is based on sexual manipulation behind and in front of the camera. Using my sexuality in my art, and getting it in return from others.
