What is Fire Cider exactly? Just the ultimate cure for anything that ails ya. A combination of ginger, garlic, apple cider vinegar, turmeric, horseradish, and hot peppers buried in the ground and allowed to ferment for thirty days, its an all natural herbal remedy for use at the first sign of a cold or flu. It is also an excellent external liniment for use on the chest for congestion, or to ease the pain of sore muscles.

Common Ground Health Clinic (CGHC) gathers each December at the community garden on Teche Street to make the winter tonic. The event will begin with an educational session led by the CGHC Herbalists, and will continue through the afternoon preparing ingredients, combining them in glass jars and, finally, burying them in the ground to brew. This is a great chance to experience some hands-on learning of herbal remedies past & present.
People of all ages are welcome to this event, and encouraged to bring a snack and a beverage to share, and a small (pint) glass jar with a lid. Participants are encouraged to return in January to dig it up their concoctions and celebrate with a feast.
