The Gist:
Sub is a quarterly print ‘zine by and for writers, artists and photographers who are hungry for a creative outlet. The prefix “sub-” denotes that which is below the surface – subconscious, subversive, subculture – and it is with wonder for the mystery and magic of each human’s hidden talent that we begin this publication. Whether you’re a schoolteacher with a passion for still-life photography, a barista armed with beastly hidden syntax, or a businessman who loves to draw, you deserve a place to let your passions be known and celebrated.
The Prompt:
Simply, an ode to New Orleans. Maybe a love letter, or the story of how you got here, a sketch from the banks of the Mississippi River, or a snapshot of a single spectacular (or spectacularly ordinary) moment. Your submission can be in the form of poetry, short fiction, prose, paint, line drawings, photographs – just about anything. Handwritten/drawn, typed, and anonymous submissions are all equally appreciated.
