One day while looking at the liner notes of a greatest hits of the 70s CD, I noticed that the band who sings one of my favorite songs, “Moonlight Feels Right”, was formed by a guy who was once in a NOLA band! I started wondering what other NOLA bands I was unfamiliar with and decided to share my findings with you!

“Tossing and Turning” by ’80s Funk Band Windjammer

Kevin McLin, the band’s producer and lead guitarist, broke into a hotel and gave Tito Jackson a copy of their demo tape. Papa Joe soon signed them, and they made three albums. Gotta love the scene where the rest of the band is coaching the lead singer on what to tell his girlfriend on the phone!

“Mrs. Bluebird” by ’70s Sunshine Pop Band Eternity’s Children

The band was formed in Mississippi, but spent a great deal of time headlining shows in the New Orleans circuit. Also, the band’s lead singer, Bruce Blackman, went on to form Starbuck whom you may remember for the ’70s hit, “Moonlight Feels Right.”

“New Age Girl” by ’90s Alternative Band Deadeye Dick

You’ve heard the song before (it charted on Billboard and was on the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack), but you probably didn’t know the band was from New Orleans!
