Alas, my master plan was thwarted. I had it all thought out – I would head to Frenchman St. early in the day, on foot, and take pictures of revelers along the way. Krewe du Vieux was the first Mardi Gras parade of this Carnival season and I wanted to capture stylish individuals watching the parade on camera. Yet, the rain stopped me from venturing out as early as I wanted to and by the time I was able to head downtown, the light of day was almost gone. Fortunately, I was able to get a few shots before the sun went down and the partying and crowds got to crazy for me to photograph.
I spotted Ross and Ashley on Decatur Street and had to stop and talk to them. This sylish duo was happy to pose and incredibly nice.
On Ashley: Urban Outfitters dress, shoes and turban + H&M jacket + bag from a store in Los Angeles
On Ross: Defend New Orleans shirt + Levi jeans + gifted shirt
Rachel caught my attention thanks to the shiny camera bling around her neck. Lots of people mistook it for an outrageous necklace or a flask, but ladies and gentleman – it’s real!
On Rachel: Lomography camera + a shirt stolen from an evil, ex-best friend + Forever 21 pants + Target boots
Finally, I spotted Megan across the street just before the parade started. How could I resist a tall blonde?
On Megan: Thrifted boots + Cords belonging to her friend Irene + shirt from a post exchange on a base in Italy + a necklace from Rome that was a gift + a PBR
Here’s to the remainder of Mardi Gras being rain free!
