The first evening I spent drinking fine cocktails and craft beers at Mid City’s Twelve Mile Limit a large pile of wood toppled over and sent me reeling back on an overstuffed couch. Luckily, I expected it. I was playing the bars oversized version of Jenga, made DIY style with foot long cuts of lumber. Needless to say, I have been back many times since. The TML excels in the categories of food, drink, and friendly atmosphere – a golden trifecta for any great pub. Proprietor and bartender T. Cole Newton and chef Chris Shortall (former sous chef at Coquette) have everything well under control. Newton does the shaking and stirring of the house’s specialty cocktails and Shortall works his magic in the kitchen preparing a large variety of appetizing comfort foods, including his legendary ribs. The Twelve Mile Limit hosts weekend Brunch specials, free food on certain weeknights, collective DJ nights (bring in your own LP’s and take turns wowing the crowd), local sports games on the tube, and for all you health fanatics out there, smoke free weekends.
